Fountain

Fountain (2018) 7:36 Min. - This performance takes place in a public courtyard as I strategically strapped vinyl tubing around my body as if it were a harness. Enacting as a Public fountain or human sculpture I move freely before a participant poisons the well from where the water is sourced from. The externalized tubing shows a clear state of change as the toxin is internalized thus succumbing to this action. This narrative alludes to political and natural systems. As the body is in ways in junction with these systems or machine, the flux of similarities hangs by a thin thread in a constant state of collapse.

Regándome

Regándome (2018) 4:14 Min. - “Water Is The Medium of Life”. Man enters a storm drain. Man recites a mantra of water principles. Man is washed clean of his misuses of water. Man goes home and takes an hour-long shower.

Inevitability

Inevitability (2018) 1:58 Min. - The installation calls urgency to the environmental damages brought on by fossil fuel pumping. Vinyl tubing mounted on a wall maps out the Keystone Pipeline system, which runs from Canada to the United States. Since it’s commission in 2010, the pipeline has proven the irony of building man-made structures and has sprung multiple leaks including two major ones in which I demonstrate by puncturing and severing the tubings. Thus, as the fluid continues to pump, the spill is soaked up and stained on the canvas which is directly on the floor acting as an absorbent as soil would. This installation showcases 3 interdisciplinary studies; sculpture, performance, and painting to illustrate a concept which I am in pursuit of taking on in future works.

Simone Forti & Friends

In this group performance I was lucky enough to be apart of this event that was filled with performance and short films celebrating the life and work of dancer/artist Simone Forti. The clip above is snippet of Simones workshop in which a group of of performers; including myself, practiced one of her Dance Constructions from 1961 titled “Huddle” in which we were to perform that following evening preceding Simone Fortis lifetime achievement award.

M/F

M/F (2018) 2:23 Min. - Fellow artist and resident cohort Jacqueline Weisbaum and I find ourselves courting between male and female tropes in a performance titled M/F. The Opposing sexes are bound in an entanglement combating each other in a bedroom setting out in the public space switching between binary norms.
